Woops ! You walked right into that one, didn't you Chris.
I'm sure you've all heard the result by now so I'll so no more than
"See you at the Belfry"

I'm not sure what exactly I walked into !
For anyone who doesn't know G.B and Ireland won the Walker Cup
by 1 point.

| Silence is golden!!!
The Walker Cup and only two replies...what a surprise!!
I would have thought that this topic would have got a lot of
airtime, after all it is supposed to be the top amateur battle,
very similar to the Ryder Cup.
However it seems that the win by GB & Ireland (by only a small
margin I know, but a win nevertheless) has not prompted any
comment from our US friends. I wonder whether a US victory would
have had the same result?
On a serious note..what a great comeback by the US team. They very
nearly pipped us to the post and what an exciting finish, all down
to the last pair on the last green. I guess it was destined to be
when Jim Milligan chipped in at the 17th after fluffing his original
chip shot.
Anyway guys...that's the Curtis, Walker and Ryder Cups all over
here. That must be hard to handle after US dominance for so long.
Still the "big one" is next month and I for one can't wait.
Some bad news for the US guys...Sam Torrance will be back at the
Belfry!! Look out for the putter! Bernhard's form is coming back
too... he came fourth in the PLM Open in Malmo at the weekend.
Phil. (just a touch tongue-in-cheek).

| That was a very marvelous finish to the Walker Cup matches and a
great thing that Ireland/Great Britain won!
The young chap that defeated our Jay Seigel, who is from Kilmarnock
in Scotland, was 2 down with 3 to play against a very seasoned golfer.
It is a great tribute to Jim Milligan to see that he not only turned
certain defeat into victroy, but it also won the cup for his team.
Remember, our president's Grandfather donated that cup and the
president still carries his name, George Herbert Walker Bush. Does
that also mean that you get George for one(1) year?

Please consider the consequences of your proposal.
It is true, though, that if Mr Bush were to take an LOA for a
year, the bgame of golf would get lots of publicity because
of the gentleman who would then be left in charge.

Rather than giving them Mr. Bush, how about Dukakis and a couple
of hipocrites to be named later....

| Tell you what, we'll do a swap. You give us Bush, and we'll (gladly)
give you our president ... oops ... I mean queen ... oh no, that
should read Prime Minister, Maggie. You're welcome to her !
Even better, you can keep Bush too !!

| Congrats to the Brits! In my opinion, Martin, Mickelson and Sigel
(especially Sigel) choked! Sigel is 2 up with 3 to play, and a world
of experience; then both he and the Scot beat it like pigs for the
last 3 holes. Sigel chili dips it TWICE! Give me Robert Gamez any
day!

| That got the topic going....keep it up fellas!!
That Bermuda grass sure looks tough. Anyone want to send me a divot
so I can practice from it??? It'll make a change from the burnt brown
stuff that's an excuse for a lawn at the moment!!
Well you won't have to face 'man-mountain' Russell Claydon anymore..
he turned pro right after the tourney. Fancy him and The Walrus
playing in a two-ball...watch out!!
