Bob,
I am a member at Westminster, and know the course rather well
(especially from the woods). It is an 18 hole course, not very long,
but it does give you a good test.
The first six holes will bore you. #1 starts as a long 425 yd
par 4, the following five holes get shorter as you go up and down.
Except for the second and third holes, the first six are wide open.
You can really air out your drives and if your a long hitter be
in a position of a wedge or less to some of the greens.
Once you cross the street the fun begins. Seven is a par 4 of
about 380 yds. Eight is a short dog legged par 4, it also has the
toughest green on the course. As you hit into it the green slopes
right to left, so keep the ball to the right of the pin on the
approach. Nine is a 170 yd par 3, back to the clubhouse. That gives
you a par 35 out.
Ten is a 140 yd par 3. and the last of the give me holes. From
here on out the course really toughens up. Eleven is a 380 yd par
4, but it's uphill so it plays a lot longer. The traps in front
of the green are deep and should be avoided. (In the club champion
ship #11 cost me dearly) Twelve is a 240 yd par 3. That's no misprint.
Thirteen is a 450 yd par 4. From an elevated tee and 300 yds to
a 90 degree dog leg right. Oh O.B. to the right. Fourteen is a long
par 5 tracing 13, through a pass in the hill that you hit off of
last hole. Fifteen is a par 4. Water guarding the fairway on three
sides ( right left and middle) 200 yds out. the green is on the
top of a hill. Two iron shots should give you an easy par opportunity.
Sixteen is a 500+ yds par 5, up hill and guarded by fairway bunkers
30 yds from the green. Seventeen is a 170 yd par 3 down hill guarded
in the front by water. And eighteen is a 480 yd par 5.
The course is in good shape for the time of the year. It will
give you a good challenge. I hope you enjoy yourself.
