591.2 | 18 for New Ipswich | AKOV12::LORTIE | | Tue Jun 20 1989 06:00 | 11 |
| What about the course in New Ipswich??
Arnie is supposed to be in on that one.
Last I heard was that they hit ledge and were trying to sell of
the rocks.
Unknown when the course will open.

591.3 | Hope they make it happen..... | WORDS::NISKALA | Oh Titus, bring your friend hither. | Tue Jun 20 1989 08:26 | 11 |
| Since I was just down in NI this weekend visiting the family,
I asked my folks if they knew.
Arnie designed the course. Hopefully soon, the developer will
have funds to get the project going again. It seems the bank that
was financing the project went under so the money flow ceased. The
developer, who's name escapes me, is looking for another bank and
hopes to get things going soon. Supposedly he's stated he's got
too much money invested to just give up, he needs to see it through
to completion. As far as what was completed, I don't know.

I live about 1 mile from the new course in NI and the current
state of the project financially is as was stated in .3. At
least that is what an article in the paper stated. As far as
the progress on the course, the article stated that if Cowen
(not sure of the spelling) was able to get the financing that
he need within 30 days there is a good chance that the course
could open late next year. I personally think that this is
a little optomistic, but it would not hurt my feelings to be
wrong on this one.
As for the actually progress on the course, the roads are
cut, they have 4 houses that are partially built on the
property and the course was making progress. The course
has all the fairways cut and a number of them are already
stumped with contouring begun. Living so close, I often
take my dog for a walk through the course and yes I have
even hit a few balls on my favorite hole (a 600+ yarder).
I am pretty anxious for its opening, I think it will be
a very beautiful and difficult course (translation, bring
lots of balls it has very tight fairways cut out of mature
woods on a number of holes.)

591.5 | New holes at Green Meadow? | CHRLIE::HUSTON | | Tue Jun 20 1989 12:44 | 7 |
|
I was at the Green Meadow driving range Sun. I saw a sign in the
clubhouse about the new 3 holes being closed due to rain. Where are
the new holes and what are they for? Are they part of a new 9/18 or are
they going to replace some holes that are already there, or...?

591.6 | New Holes | TRACTR::OSBORNE | | Tue Jun 20 1989 14:56 | 5 |
| The three new holes are to replace three holes that will be lost
when they continue to excavate the gravel pit. The holes that will
be lost are the south 13, 16, and 17th I believe.

| FYI
The Freil Family is building a new course in Amherst, NH called
Souhegan Woods, 18 holes to be opened in 1991, it's about 3 miles from
Amherst CC. I went by the other day, looks like all the holes will be
carved through the woods.

| Peter, where in Amherst will it be?

591.9 | Freil = Factory | NSG018::STOPERA | | Mon Apr 02 1990 14:13 | 14 |
| The new "golf factory" (just my name for freil courses), is located off
Thornton Ferry II road.
If you are coming from Merrimack, take Amherst road (the road next to
the Burger King) for about 5 miles, after you cross the soheagen river
the course will be on the right.
From 101a - Take Boston Post road, after you cross the river take a
right onto Thornton Ferry II road, course is down 1-2 miles on the
right.
if the above is not clear please ask again
