Not to squash your enthusiasm, but remember the hurricane, was it
Gilbert? I'd check to see how many courses are open before I made
reservations.
We looked into going to Cancun 'cause the rates were about half
the normal price. What we found out - the reconstruction is
very noisy and continues 24 hrs. a day (and night).
It might be worth it, though, IF the golf courses are open.

| I was there during "Gilbert". It depends on what part of the island
you are talking about staying at, as to the quality of the courses.
I was in Negril the first week I was there and didn't play any down
there, because there aren't any really close to Negril. But the second
week I stayed in Montego Bay and then I played the Half Moon G.C.
and it was really nice, but it cost $70 (and I even had my clubs).
The Tryall course looked nice from the road, but I don't know what
shape it's in now. If you look at Jamacia, Gilbert went through
the southeast side of the island, passing right over Mo-bay. I was
in Mo-bay when it hit, it mostly ripped down trees, destroyed houses,
caused flooding. I'm sure the people that live there would have
a different story (and I'm NOT trying to make light of it) but I
don't think there would be to much damage to the courses (except
for missing trees) that would really effect your play. The Jamacians
are really hard workers and I sure they have done everything they
can to put the courses back in shape. I have more pricing info on
the courses if you need it.
