| I RAN A GOLF LEAGUE EONS AGO (1984) IN WESTMINSTER AND HAD CONTRACTED
RICK TREMELO TO DO THE COMPUTERIZED HANDICAPPING. AS FAR AS I KNOW
NO ONE COMPLAINED, IN FACT MANY OF THE LEAGUE MEMBERS LOVED IT.
RICK WAS AN I.S. "GIANT" AND HAD HIS OWN PROGRAM THAT HE HAD WRITTEN.
WE WERE ONE OF HIS SEVERAL CLIENTS, HE ALSO DID THEM FOR THE
WESTMINSTER COUNRTY CLUB. HIS FEE WAS NOMINAL, I BELIEVE IT WAS
$3.00 PER PERSON, WHICH I ADDED TO THE INITIAL FEE TO JION THE LEAGUE.
I'M NOT SURE WHERE RICK IS NOW BUT YOU COULD TRY "ELF" OR EVEN
CONTACTING THE WESTMINSTER CC. HE LIVED IN WESTMINSTER AT THE TIME
AND WAS WORKING IN AND OUT OF WMO. NOTE; I HOPE I SPELLED HIS LAST
NAME CORRECTLY. GOOD LUCK AT THE LINKS THIS SPRING!!!

Mike (SSVAX::) Chaikowski is the person who runs the handicap in the
Maynard Golf League (Stow Acres), and I am almost sure it's run on a
VAX. This league has more than 200 members.
I remember seeing a program also in the VTX TOOLSHED database.

| Re .1 Pam, to manually compute your handicap (USGA style) you need
a Committee Manual which has a chart in it. Before you refer to
the chart you need to do the following: subtract the course rating
(usually on the card somepalce) from your score. That result is
called a handicap differential. You then add the 10 lowest
differentials together and refer to the chart, which will tell you
what your handicap is. There is a calculation in the manual to compute
your handicap if you have less than 20 differentials. I can, pick
up a manual for you, if you want one, in Weston at the Mass Golf
Assoc. It is not to far off the path towards home. Let me know.
If anyone else needs one let me know by Feb 3 and I will make one

Sorry, I had to move it to another node. The latest kit is in:
RESOLV::SYS$KITS:[PUBLIC]HANDCP22.ARC (for MS-DOS)
RESOLV::SYS$KITS:[PUBLIC]HANDICAP.KIT (for VMS 4.x)
