440.0. "VEGAS scoring" by MJOSWS::FAGLEY (beat the resident) Fri Nov 11 1988 11:17

Have many of you used the VEGAS scoring method for two-man matches?
Saturday is our annual two-man turkey tourney(guess what the prizes
are) at the club. It's a nifty way to score, and makes both players
    be concious of every stroke.  Here's how it works;

It is a point system scoring method. If you and your partner score
4 and 6 on a par 4 your score for the hole is 46. If your opponent(s)
score 4 and 5 their score is 45, consequently you are down 1 point.
Here's the catch... If neither you or your partner score par, say
you have 5 and 6 you reverse the order of the scores... 65 is your
score for the hole. Now you are down 20 points! This is an excellent,
diverse method to score 2 on 2 matches. Lots of fun. What we will
do with many teams is run a total for 18 holes and figure winners.
Try it I know you will like it, it keeps everyone involved.

Are your examples the net score? If not how do you handicap a VEGAS?
Looks like alot of fun but I can see some teams losing interest
after a few bad holes. I'm going to give it a try with my foresome
    this weekend.

Yes they are net. We are in flights by handicap for the tourney.
Split your foursome up as fairly as possible, you can give some
strokes if you have to. Enjoy yourself!!!
