195.0. "Where can I buy golf knickers?" by VINO::RASPUZZI (Michael Raspuzzi) Sun Feb 14 1988 17:42

OK, here's a semi silly question but it has been bothering me. I
am going on a trip to Myrtle Beach in April and one day has been
designated as "knickers" day. Everyone who is golfing that day must
wear proper apparrel (yes, we all must look like Payne Stewart).

Here's the question: Does anyone *know* of a store in the Boston
area that sells men's golf knickers? I have tried the yellow pages
and no one has them. Nevada Bob's in Boston said they shipped what
they had to their Woburn store and the Woburn store ain't got none
    anymore.

I have a mail order catalog that carries what I am looking for but
I would like to try them on before purchasing them so I am hesitant
at ordering through mail. Also, they are $60 through mail and I
am sure I can get the cheaper.

Do country club pro shops carry them? If so, which country club?
And are they open this time of year?

This is a non-answer, but what the hell.

The best place to get the knickers might be in Myrtle Beach itself
-- you can be sure that 4 out of every 5 retail stores in MB sells
       golf paraphernalia.

Actually, waiting until you get to MB to look for the knickers is
a win-win situation. If they have them there, you're all set. If
they don't have them there and you don't spend the money for the
foolish-looking things, you're even better off.

195.2Try Wayland Country ClubFLOPSY::CHAIKOWSKIMon Feb 15 1988 12:293
I was out at the Wayland Country Club pro shop on Saturday and noticed
they had a few pair. Might want to call to find out the sizes and
    colors.
195.3but I really have to get a pair!VINO::RASPUZZIMichael RaspuzziMon Feb 15 1988 17:5012
    Re .1:

Actually, it is not a win-win situation because knickers are *required*
dress for the knicker's tournament while I am done in Myrtle Beach.
Naturally, I am trying to get myself a pair long before I get down
there so I don't have to worry about it.

    Re .2:

Thanks for the tip. I'll give Wayland CC a shot.

    Re .4:

That's the catalog I have at home. The only problem is they want
$60 for a pair of knickers. One of the golf stores that I talked
to said that you can get them for $40-$50 in a golf shop. If I can't
get them in a golf shop, I might order through the catalog.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Actually they're not "knickers", they are "Plus-fours", because
they are four inches longer than knickers.

I just was able to get the decimal equivilent of the MSEE node address
so I can now read what's going on. But rejoice, it saved you all
from hearing about my golf in Florida!! I stayed at the MArriott
World Conference Center, absolutly beautiful, $50 green fee (incl
cart), good course. Oh, in Orlando. The club pro convention was
there at the same time so I got to play with some good rusty players.

I finally took the suggestion of Wayland CC and purchased a pair
there. The fit is pretty good and they even had light blue ones
in my size! Thanks to all who responded.
