170.1 | Indoor Driving Range. | GWYNED::DENNING | | Tue Dec 15 1987 20:41 | 8 |
| Here in the western suburbs of Boston (Framingham) we are lucky
because we have an indoor driving range complete with 3 PGA pros.
They charge $125 a season and you can hit as many balls as you as
often as you want. (Pretty good deal I think).

170.3 | Indoor Golf Center | FLOPSY::CHAIKOWSKI | | Thu Dec 17 1987 04:28 | 11 |
| On Route 9, across from the El Torito restaurant. It's located
at the Framingham Motor Inn. It's right next to a big apartment
complex whose name escapes me. It's called the Indoor Golf Center.
They have a sign out front. Can't miss it. There are 6 hitting areas,
and a fully stocked pro shop. Hours are Wed - Fri: 11:00 to 8:00,
Sat and Sun: 9:00 to 5:00. Closed Mon and Tues.
Where are you coming from???

| re.3 What do you hit into? A net? Do you have to reserve
time for the hitting areas? Any cost for balls? I assume if you're
hitting into a net you just use your own. Is their a golf pro to
look at your swing?
Thanks,
Tim
ps. Sounds good. I use the Rt 9 Mass Pike exit every day for work.

| There is one big net all along the wall. There is no cost for balls
if you are a member. Non members pay $7 on weekdays $8 on Weekends
for an unlimited number of balls/time.
There are 4 PGA Pros. Dave McKenzie the Head Pro from Worchester
CC, Kurt Sckoloski(Sp?) Head Pro from Framingham, and the two asst
pros from Framingham....
They run video lessons too.

170.6 | The Way All Turf? | DICKNS::F_MCGOWAN | | Fri Dec 18 1987 06:11 | 15 |
| You think you've got the winter blues? I just found out my local
course was sold to a developer: instead of fairways, greens and
rough, Pine Meadows in Lexington (Mass) will consist of lawns,
driveways and condos! My question is: who gets all the "found" golf
balls that turn up when they clear the trees? They can probably
recover a lot of the $8,000,000 purchase price right there!
Well, at least I'll have the memory of some good times there, like
shooting 28 over the final 7 holes of a round last season; and making
par on the final hole on the final round. Too bad it's gone the
way of all high-priced land near Boston. It was (as they say) "a
sporty little layout."

I got out and played 7 holes Christmas day, it was beautiful out
there, parred the first three holes, then found my game and bogied
the rest. But it was enough to recall how much I like the game.
This year I played so little I figure it cost better than $100 a
round. I've ammended my "Goal Sheet", and this year its a 10 handicap
or bust (even though I won't make any money).

There is also an indoor range/school in Lawrence, Mass., Billy
Max school of golf. They have 7 driving nets, a pitching area,
a 26'X 26' astro turf putting area, sand trap, pro shop merch.,
vcr tapes of yourself, and 7 PGA instructors that are always
there to give you pointers and are available for private lessons.
