129.1 | Yes, a steal indeed!!! | HEFTY::WELLSPEAK | It's a Boy | Mon Jul 20 1987 20:11 | 10 |
| This years version of Sounder "Star" clubs suggested retail
price for 8 irons and 3 woods is very close to $475. I would imagine
you could pick them up at most of the golf discount stores for around
$325 to $350. I would say, if she got what you said she got, (that
is brand new, never used clubs), she got an excellent deal!!!
These clubs are 'heel to toe/perimeter weighted, slightly offset'
clubs. You should find them quite forgiving, if you've never played
with preimeter weighted clubs before. Good Luck.

| Sounders are good clubs. I have a Sounder driver that I picked up
about 4 years ago. It was originally priced at $100 but the pro
gave it to me for a steal (a mere $65). It has a stiff shaft and
I like the feel. Part of the shaft is totally hollow. You can hear
an echo when you tap this part with a coin.

| Yes, My Uncle who is a single digit handicapper played with the
Sounder Star irons with Tommy Armour woods for about three years
and liked them very much. He has since however ugraded to Pings.
By the way you are in excellent company as Seve Ballesteros and
Gary Player both play with Sounder.

Well, I got the clubs out on the course Sunday for the first time,
and I love them...I shot an 89...The FIRST time I have ever broken
90. I had taken them to the driving range a couple of times, but
everything seemed to go pretty smooth Sunday. Hope I can keep it
up. Now if I could only putt.......

129.5 | Add some weight | MTBLUE::MOORE_MIKE | Phaser's locked on target | Fri Jul 31 1987 19:46 | 7 |

Reqarding the screw in back. You can add weight to the club by taking
it out and pouring in powdered lead and puting it back in. My clubs
also have that feature but never tried it myself.

129.6 | Pouring something in, could lead to shifting weight | HEFTY::WELLSPEAK | It's a Boy | Mon Aug 10 1987 19:42 | 5 |
| I'm not positive Mike, but I think that screw is the weight
itself. You don't poor lead in the hole, but instead, purchase
a screw that is of a different wieght and epoxy it back in the hole.
Check with your local club Pro for sure.

RE: .6
No the screw is not the weight. To change the swing weight of the
club, you remove the screw then add or remove the powder to get
the swing weight you want then replace the screw. Most clubs have
what is called a swing weight port. Usually it's under the sole
plate of the club.

| Anyone know of a toll free number. I have a question on the length
of the woods. My Star woods are several years old. The driver seems
to be only 41" or so long. The usual length is 43".
