         5. Contry club rules
         6. Course/green condition

                       one stroke.

    6. You have to deal with a lot of water hazard and sand traps(every

Well maintained course and green. It is worth to play here.

    7. Course Rating (NGA) :

    	Okay, here's my favorite.

    1. Southampton Country Club, Southampton, Mass. 413-527-9815

    2. Mass. Pike to exit 3 (Westfield), take a left after Pike Toll
booth onto Route 202 north. Golf course is about 5 miles on
       your right.

    3. Greens Fees are $7 on weekdays, $11 on Weekends and holidays.
All fees are for 9 or 18. If it's not crowded. they'll let you
play more for the one fee. Carts are additional.

    4. 18 holes - Mens tees, 6465 yds. although it plays shorter. They
don't have yardages listed for the Championship tees but heres
my guess, 6650-6700. They're really not championship tees, but
just a little longer than the normal mens tees. Par 72.

    5. Out of Bounds - marked by stakes.
Free lift - all cart paths
Water hazards ( only brooks ) - drop behind hazard.
All stokes are according to USGA rules.

    6. The course is kept in excellent condition. The fairways are
very nice and the greens are soft and well kept. There is only
one trap on the course. The greens are big and fairways for
the most part are wide open. This would lead one to believe
it is a very easy course. Maybe. But the greens are very difficult
to read. There are many undulations and pin placements for the
most part, cause a lot of downhill putts that are very tough
to stop. Although, the greens hold iron shots extremely well.

    7. I don't know what the course rating is.

I will try to add a few other courses when I get more details
    and time to do so.

100.2Of courses, of courseAUTHOR::F_MCGOWANFri May 08 1987 04:1327
My local course is Pine Meadows in Lexington. It's on Cedar Street,
which is off Bedford Street (aka Rts 4&225 off 128). It's a short
9-holer, very well maintained and comfortable to play. Greens fees
are $8 for 9 or $13 for 18 on weekdays, and a dollar more on weekends.
It measures 5770 for 18 holes, and is kind of strangely laid out:
you start off with two par 5's!

Another course I've played a few times and liked is Sterling Farms
in Stamford CT. I only know how to get to it from my mother-in-law's
house in New Canaan, so directions probably wouldn't be too helpful.
For what it's worth, it's on Newfield Avenue.

It's a full 18-holer, measuring just under 6100 yards from the white
tees, but it's hilly and tricky. It's very well maintained, and
not cheap if you're an out-of-towner: weekends are $21 for
    non-residents!

On the other end of the scale is Leo J. Martin in Weston. Take rte
30 west off 128, and take a left at the second light, as though
you were going to get on the Mass Pike, but keep on going till you
see the course. The parking lot and club house are on the left.
Greens fees are $6 on weekdays, $7 on weekends, for 18 holes. The
course has some very tough holes (13 is one of the nastiest par
4's I've ever seen) and is quite challenging. Unfortunately, it's
not very well kept up, and can be brutally crowded on weekends.
Get there early or be prepared to wait a couple of hours!

Anyone out there know the course ratings for Green Meadows GC,
both courses. I called them but the pro won't be back until
March 1st. It's not on their scorecards either. grrrr.

    usually that buzy.
