I'm in the process of looking for a new set of clubs after many years
of using my unmatched, well used set. The clubs that I like are the
Wilson 1200 GE's with metal woods. I've never used these clubs, but
the feel seems very good in the store.
I noticed from the golfers registry in this file that a number of you
own these particular clubs. Since I have always used my old clunker set,
I would like to hear some input from knowledgable golfers about these
clubs:
o Good and bad aspects of these clubs
o Recommendations on where to get a good deal
on these clubs in the greater Maynard area,
including So. New Hampshire.
I appreciate any comments

Dave,
I bought the Wilson 1200GE's last spring and like them alot.
I bought them over the competition because of their feel (very
balanced), offset clubhead (I have a slice) and the perimeter
weighted clubface. It is supposed to give you a bigger sweetspot
but really gives you no sweetspot at all. You can basically hit
it anywhere on the clubface and get a decent "hit". I bought the
irons only. I bought Sigma/Tiger Shark woods (metal) because of
their shallow clubhead. These clubs are the easiest woods to hit
ever. You can hit the driver off the fairway like most people hit
the 3w or 5w. I am serious!!! I did not like the Wilson 1200GE
woods metal or otherwise.
I bought the irons at Nevada Bob's for $350.00. Herman's had
them for $399.99. There is a 4 page pullout in GOLF Magazine this
month about the 1200GE's. Check it out.

If your considering the "newer more forgiving" clubs such as
the 1200ge's which are excellent I suggest you also consider the
Hogan Radials which can be purchased for about the same price and
I beleive are a better made club i.e. pinned shaft etc...

I used to use Wilson K28's and could hit the pw thru 6 comfortable.
When it came to hitting the lower irons 5 thru 3, I'd flip a coin
as to where it might go and how far. A friend picked up a set of
pings which got me to thinking of a new set myself. I picked up
a set of Wilson 1200GE's at the Golf Discount store on RT9 Framingham
Ma. for $270 . I gained a club in distance, previously hitting the
8 150 yards... now I use a 9 . Most importantly I can now hit the
lower irons as predictably as the high. The Wilson's truly are
forgiving and will pull the ball back to center. Excellent irons...
never tried the woods.
we just got a foot of snow last night ...
Dec Golf league began at Stow the night before!
Waiting for spring???
