    Hello,

    i hope any can give me a solution of the following problem.

    Sometimes the following message displayed on the consoleterminal.

    * * * WARNING * * *

    * * * BAD LOCATIONS FOUND IN MEMORY * * *
    * * * MEMORY INTERLEAVING IS DISABLED TO * * *
    * * * PREVENT O.S. OCCUPATION OF BAD MEMORY SPACE * * *

    SIMM_Callout don't found any Problem.
    OS don't found any Problem.
    All internal diags without any Problem.
    After PWR OFF/ON the Problem is go away for any xy Days.
    Memory interleaving is, at the problem exists, switched from the
    System to none.

    If you don't Power OFF/ON the system you can set:
    Set interleaving default
    but after the next INIT the system displays the Errormessage again

        2. Firmware Enhancements and New Features

              Console V4.8 contains the following enhancements :

              Added support for PCI-Asynchronous Communication Cards

Hit <RETURN> to scroll text, or <CTRL/C> to skip text.

              (PBXDA).

              A fix was incorporated to correct a system hang and EEPROM
              corruption problem. This was caused by the improper
              synchronization of CPU's upon simultaneous entry into console
              following the detection of a system fatal error condition and
              assertion of TLSB Fault.

              The "info 8" command will now display the "Software
              Compatability Field" information contained in the HWRPB.

              The PCI-FDDI adapter (PFI device) can now boot over the BOOTP
              protocol.

              Added support for 4GB memory modules. The new memories will
              have two permissible interleave settings, "default" or "none".
              CPU revisions at or above the following levels will support
              these new memories:

                       E2056-CA (Single CPU, 300MHz) Revision H
                       E2056-DA (Dual   CPU, 300MHz) Revision P

Hit <RETURN> to scroll text, or <CTRL/C> to skip text.

              The display output from the "show eeprom halt" command has
              been reformatted for greater readability.

              The primary CPU will now respond to a Ctrl-P input after a
              secondary CPU has been stopped under Digital-UNIX.

              Added support for EV56 Pass 2 CPU chips.

              Modified PALcode (OpenVMS & D-UNIX) to fix corruption of
              machine-check logout frames.

        3. Firmware Anomalies, Restrictions, and Workarounds

              Do NOT attempt to update console firmware to a lower revision
              than shown below. Installing a revision of firmware below
              the minimum required will render the CPU module INOPERABLE.
              In SOME cases, the Loadable Firmware Update utility will
              not allow the update, if attempted, and would give an error
              message.

Hit <RETURN> to scroll text, or <CTRL/C> to skip text.

              o  E2056-CA (Single-CPU, 300Mhz) Rev. F and above    V2.2-102

              o  E2056-DA (Dual-CPU, 300Mhz) Rev. N and above      V2.2-102

              o  E2061-CA (Single-CPU, 350Mhz) Rev. A and above    V3.0-9

              o  E2061-DA (Dual-CPU, 350Mhz) Rev. A and above      V3.0-9

              (no longer required for booting the firmware update program)
              for the AlphaServer 8200/8400, they can be found on the
              Alpha Systems Firmware Update CD V3.9, in the following

    The next time you get this message, enter INFO 5 at the console and
    post the results here. There should be some information in the
    registers which will tell you which memory is failing. Also what
    CPU type is in this system.

    Hello,

    i can get you only the CPU' Type at this time.
    We have installed two KN7CE-ab (E2062-DA (440MHz CPU's)) Rev. D02.

    If we get the error message i store the INFO 5 Register behind this
    Entry.
