Further to note 603.0 Power and Heat Dissapation. I need help on the power consumption of several options. My customer will be receiving 8 x AS8400, I have calculated the EPU's but this only tells me how many P/S's are needed. "The SOC (& everything else I checked is only partially helpful; not definitive" Ditto I have been asked to Provide the Power consumption and heat dissapation for these systems with their Storageworks cabs. Any help on the above will be greatly appreciated. Regards Ivan Harris

1121.1 | Use this method to calculate Btu's from the EPU value on 8400's | LANDO::DROBNER | TurboLaser Engineering - 8200/8400 | Wed Mar 05 1997 09:24 | 20 |
Interesting - back on the VAX/Alpha 7000 days I put into the SOC article a method to calculate the Btu's from the "EPU" value. Looking at our current 8400 SOC article and I see that method is not mentioned under the "System Specifications section" at the end of the article. This method is valid on both the 7000 and 8400 style cabinets as these cabinets use the same power sub-system. "The power system provides unity power factor which allows full utilization of the input line current (watts = VA). Approximate Btu's for a given system configuration can be calculated by multiplying the "EPU" value per cabinet by 85.4." This should help your calculation. Also the 8400 SOC article system specfications section list three different type of loaded configurations with the power and Btu's used. The 3 configs listed are detailed in the notes at the bottom of the page. /Howard | |||||
