| Shakshober just published linpacks that evidently show better than SGI
Origin, the following mail has a pointer to more info-

Bill,
The great LINPACK NxN results we shared with our customer in NYC last
week are now official!
Today, John Shakshober formally submitted to Jack Dongarra the 16-64
CPU results obtained by Susanne Balle and Simon Steely on Bhagyam
Mose's / Sandia AS8400 5/440 MC cluster.
These results show Alpha Clusters with a substantial performance
advantage over SGI Power Challenge and Origin, and slightly above or
equal in performance to the Exemplar, up to 16-CPUs published by HP.
Alpha Clusters continue to scale almost linearly beyond that point, to
reach 24.7GFLOPS with 64 CPUs!
The results in PowerPoint presentation are located in:
MSBCS::DISK_ROSS:[ROSS.PUBLIC]LINPACK7.PPT;1
and are another proof point that even with our current technology we
can outperform our competitor's just announced systems.
Susanne and Simon are continuing work to further improve this data.
Until then, please feel free to disseminate internally and use this
data with customers and analysts.
Best Regards,
John

Jack,
Below are results of running Linpack NxN on a cluster of upto
8 nodes, each node is an AlphaServer 8400 5/440, 2-to-8 cpus
per node, using Digital's Memory Channel pci interconnect running
Digital UNIX Trucluster V1.5. Fortran V4.0 and MPI XXX?
Matrix N 1/2
Processors Size Gflops Size
16 15340 7.7 3270
24 15340 10.9 4088
32 19176 13.7 4584
40 20456 16.7 3200
48 23032 19.2 4048
56 26856 21.8 4072
64 30712 24.7 4584
Please added these results to your Linpack report, below are the
logs from Susanne Balle and Simon Steely who customized the code
for Digital UNIX platforms. This is the same code used for the
4100 5/400 cluster results.
