175.1 | Nitrous and a "single tailpipe" | VMSNET::M_MACIOLEK | Four54 Camaro/Only way to fly | Mon Jul 08 1996 12:19 | 17 |
| Don't forget the nitrous. Take a hubcap or two off and make sure
one door has primer on it.
Another slick tip on a sleeper is a single tailpipe sticking out
the back. The dual pipes need to be hidden. If you can see
the dual exhaust that'll make some potential victim suspicous.
I got smoked by a 68 Camaro w/ 427 & nitrous. I saw the single tail
pipe and figured he was game. Whoops. He made it a point to ask me how
I liked his tailpipe. Cripes thinking about about this, I remember
how everyone in town knew I got zapped within an hour.
Another good sleeper is the Late 70's Malibu. Or anything made
by AMC. Imagine getting beat by a Gremlin or something stupid like
that? Hell, you'd have to move out of town.

175.2 | 1969 or 70 Volvo | SSDEVO::FRASER | | Mon Jul 08 1996 15:28 | 10 |
| Got beat by a ratty looking yellow and primer 69 or 70 Volvo the other day.
I was sitting next to it at a light, looking down my nose at the POS looking
thing. It sounded like it need a muffler bad and must have needed a tune up bad
because it shook a bit at idle. When the light went green all h#!! broke loose.
The Volvo took off with a roar and left me sitting trying to pick up my jaw off
the floorboards. It was then that I noticed the wider rear tires and dual
exhaust. These go fast parts wern't noticed before because who in there right
mind would even think that an old boxy Volvo would be at all quick...
Name withheld due to embarassment,,,

| The ultimate sleep would HAVE to be a Pacer...
Ever notice how little folks look so much bigger in them??

175.4 | pacer? | ZEKE::DUPUIS | | Fri Jul 12 1996 14:26 | 6 |
| Hey, About that Pacer. I saw one of those without a back bumper one day
and I must say they have potential. The original design most likely
looked nice until they added bumpers, handles, chrome stuff etc...
Rip off the bumpers and drop it on a vette chasis, black out the
windows, paint it black, and it will be a weapon!

| Take a look through note #8 here...I was running the "Goose" at the
track AND as a daily driver...
1980 Pontiac Bonne WAGON...all 4300lbs of it. Warmed over 350 (actually
357 after bored out .040).
15.28 @90+ in the 1/4 ....it sure woke up some people at the toll boths
and lights!
It's retired now...but the engine will live on in another "sleeper".

Hmm - back when I was a pup and raced a two wheeler, I got my doors
absolutely blown right off (quite a feat on a bike) by a pinto wagon
with a highly modified 302 under the hood. This thing was all dented
up and looked just like dads pinto pony wagon right down to the am
radio...
I was highly embarassed...

I had a 1973 chevy impala 2 door with a 474 cu. in. motor...boy
did I fly with that car, very difficult not to smoke the tires
when your 18 yrs old, and loved to bet your friends you could beat them
with a '73 rusty Green ole pepe car....Ha ha ha. Boy, those were the
good ole days.....when gasoline was ahem...like ...65 cents.
