158.1 | Check transmission fluids 1st. Who made the converter? | VMSNET::M_MACIOLEK | Four54 Camaro/Only way to fly | Wed May 17 1995 08:27 | 11 |
| Check your transmission fluid. Is it burnt? Does it smell? Are you
low on fluid?
Has the car always done this? Did you just put in the 327 with the
same old transmission and it just started doing this? What type of
cam is in the 327?
Define a few revs. Slight pressure on the gas peddal or it won't
move until you get to around 3000 rpm?

Go to a transmission shop and have them check line pressure with a
guage. The torque converter has a direct mechanical connection to the
front pump. You gotta start here, end of story.

| BRL, it sounds as though your car is a piece of junk, we have someone
here who has a piece of crap like yours, his name is Sean Murphy. He
might be able to help you out with your pile of bolts.

Don't you mean the tranny/converter......
re: -.*
Sounds like you do need to have the tranny and converter checked.
There are a number of things that could cause the problem you
describe: the converter (probably low possibility) but it can be
checked...bearings/fins and the like; the trans is more likely
the culprit....valve body, pumps, bands...etc. I don't recall what the
going $ is for a 350 overhaul...but shop around before you decide
on who to take it to. I always prefer to stay away from the places
that do 'swap-outs' and get what I have rebuilt...just an idea.
...unless of course it's going from a production (manufacture) to an
after market setup like TCI etc....then I much prefer the swapout route
;-)
