These cars have no collector value whatsoever....The turbo 301
is the pontiac small displacement engine. The turbo engine suffered
MANY problems...broken crankshafts, blown head gaskets, and turbo
oiling problems. Most of these cars were traded in, or sold after 2 or
3 years of ownership. My younger brother bought one brand new. It was
the biggest piece of $hit he ever owned. He had all of the above
problems.

| They're slow as all hell too. I remember back when my Z/28 was
stock (with a 350 LM-1), I blew one of them away so bad it looked
like he missed a shift.

| Most of what I've seen so far is correct on the Turbo Trans AM.
Some is not. I personally never buy a car for the motor so the 301-4v
should be unimportant. They sell on the average between 3000-5000
depending, but I've seen some good looking ones 2600-2800. A Turbo
Trans Am pace car edition when mint could be worth 10,000 t0 12,000
according to a Muscle Car price guide I have.
Another option is to get a good looking car and put in the motor
you want. Hot rod had an edition where the 301 was replaced with a
350. The computer was also changed for performance. Also in 1979
there was a Formula which had a 403. It's basicly an Olds motor
put in Buicks and Pontiacs. These motors are easy to find and
pretty reliable etc. All kinds of options are avaliable for fairly
good prices.
