    I am looking for an electric piano. I have a keyboard but I don't like
    the 61 keys nor the organ-like action. I want real piano type keys.

    I like the Yamaha Clavinovas. I think one would be perfect for me. I
    need MIDI, 76+ keys, and headphones. And weighted keys are a must.

    My question to this notes file is what other brands and models would be
    comparable to the Clavinova. This is so I can look through the WANT-ADs
    and recognize some other brands that I might consider.

	I'm also interested in picking up a digital piano, because I'd like to take some lessons. The Yamaha Clavinova does look interesting. I'm also considering the Roland FP-8; I picked up a brochure for this in a music store in Reading last week, and I'm looking for somewhere that will give a demo. Has anyone tried the FP-8? Chris

	Hi, I've bought a FP-8 last month, and the feedback I can give on it is : - the piano sounds are good (5 acoustic +3 electric) - you have also some very good strings and choir - there's a new mechanical system to reproduce the feeling of the keys of an acoustic piano; no more lead, and very realistic. - 88 keys - and it's only 25kg, and around 12500FF (2200$) the only current problem (in France, I don't know if it's the same elsewhere...) is that the demand is very important and you may have to wait a little to get one. So if you ask me, I'll recommend it; I think that for this budget it's the best choice. Eric Remark: It's a real piano : no rythms and so on... Anyway you can plug for instance a real time arranger like the RA-90 (I've already ordered one...;-))

	Peter, the last two replies were definitely tongue-in-cheek and address the ongoing issue of how to deal with new queries in this conference when the answer to those queries would have been found using keywords like GETTING_STARTED or doing dir/title=piano. This is one of the few conferences anywhere that uses keywords. As you might imagine, there have been tons of "I'm interested in finding an electronic piano" notes in this conference since its inception. Does the moderator delete the note and post it in one of the many existing topics, delete it and send mail to the originator, pointing them to the existing topics, or what ? And realize that sometimes no matter what the moderator does, some folks might take offense. The info you seek IS in here, and welcome ! karl
