It is getting near xmas and I wondering if there is any sampler that is piced under $300 or that I can get used for under $200... All I want is something simple like a SK1.. I just want to be able to control atleast 4 different samples from my K1... Does Casio make a MIDI sampler? They are always cheap.

Al, I'll bet an Ensoniq Mirage can be had used for around $300 nowadays. And the Mirage is a *HELL* of a lot more of a sampler than an SK-1. Hey, some people even *USE* Mirages !!!! 8^) 8^) Frank (who had and loved his Mirage for 5 years!)

How many samples can a Mirage hold? Is there a rack version?

There is a rack mount Mirage. The Mirage can hold up to 16 samples at any given time, but in order to do so the samples must be short, about .5 seconds each. Plus, the 16 samples must all live within the range of the keyboard. This is no problem if you want a sampled drum kit, or a single multi-sampled instrument, but don't confuse it with the ability to hold 5 octaves of horns AND 5 octave of strings, and a piano, and....{13 more 'ands'}.
