2755.0. "Help needed on sequencers" by ISLNDS::KUGLER () Thu Oct 24 1991 13:58
Hello...
I have recently purchased a used casio CZ101 and a Musicquest MIDI
interface for my PC (I forgot the model #...but its the basic midi
in/out-no frills card..mq16?)...I am totally new to this, but it looks
interesting (i am also not a musician but may head that way??)
Questions:
Can anyone reccomend a shareware MIDI sequencer that I can get off the
net?...I'd like to do save (which most of the demos i've seen, exclude),
playback, edit sequences (with maybe cut and paste?), do the normal
type tempo changing and note transpositions as well as playback while
recording and merging the results...I'd also like to load patches into
the CZ101, which I understand is becoming less popular these days....
have I outrequested shareware?....can anyone tell me where to copy an
arc/zip or whatever file on the net that does some of this?
also, I hear that there is a "standard" file format for midi sequences
(although the stuff i've seen so far is all incompatible). Is there
somewhere on the net that i can copy over some music files to play
and/or edit them? I need some "starter" stuff to get hooked...
If someone has a commercial package for sale relatively inexpensively
(i.e. old version from a recent upgrade) i'd be interested in that too...
any help would be appreciated....
Bob (rank beginner) Kugler
