Poly-800s didn't do sysex, to my knowledge. I don't think many boards
that age knew sysex. You definitely can't dump the sequencer to MIDI, just
to tape. That's why I got rid of mine.

| I've seen ads for editor/librarian programs for the Poly 800 which
suggests that it *does* do sys-ex, but I have no idea if that includes
sequence dumps, or how to do it if it did.

re: .-1
maybe... it certainly wasn't documented c. 1984. I'd be curious to
know. I think it did understand some registered parameters. I never
saw a product which explicitly stated that it could load/save
sequencer data. I don't recall many really decent MIDI implementations
from that time, MIDI was too new. Like, my JX-3P had a lousy
implementation as well (default OMNI mode? yuk)...
well, whatever. Anybody have more recent documentation for a
Poly-800?

| The Poly-800 does not do sysex. But I am about 90% sure that
the Poly-800 mkII does. If it is anything like the Korg DW-8000
(which came out before the Poly-800 mkII, I think) it can not
initiate its own sysex dump.

Well, I have gotten around the problem by having a QX21 receive midi-out
from the korg while the Korg sequencer is playing. The QX21 will do
Sysex, so I am able (eventually) to dump the Korg sequence data to
disk.
