Re basenote:

What computer are you using? I have a K1-II and am using a PD patch editor for
the Amiga; along with the editor there were a number of dumps which contain
some pretty good patches.

If you happen to have an Amiga, the editor (with patches) is on Fred Fish disk
#332. If you don't, let me know and I'll extract the dumps and put them in the
MIDILIB directory. (They *should* work on any computer, I would think, since
they're just sysex dumps.)

Cheers,

    I'm looking for patches too. Please go ahead and place them in the
    MIDILIB area. I wrote a patch editor for the Atari ST for the K1. Its
    available on line. I can post the location if anyone's interested. The
    program stores the patches in Kawai SYSEX format so any other program
    that stores patches in that format should be able to share patches. I'd
    like to suggest anyone who has patches (even the ones released by Kawai
    -- I don't even have those!!) that they're willing to share, please
    make them available!!

    Thanks,
    Jim

2639.3OK, patches in [MIDILIB.DEPOSIT]TLE::ALIVE::ASHFORTHLord, make me an instrument of thy peaceThu May 16 1991 15:3920
Re .2:

Okay, I've placed both the patch editor archive and the patches from it into
the [MIDI.DEPOSIT] directory. Moderator, the editor should go into the Amiga
"tools" directory, and the patches into the K1 "patches" directory. Each also
has a brief README file. The filenames are:

K1_EDITOR.LZH
K1_EDITOR.README
K1_PATCHES.LZH
K1_PATCHES.README

It would be a good idea for someone to check out the patches with another
computer; I would expect them to be usable regardless of computer type, since
the dump format is determined by the K1 and I don't believe the patch editor
used to create them adds any extraneous info, BUT- it would save trouble later
if someone could verify this.

    I have a amiga so im going to get the editor you uploaded. Did you
    include the original sounds with the patches? I messed up alot of my
    original sounds by playing around with a different patch editor.

2639.5K1 "factory" patches...TLE::ALIVE::ASHFORTHLord, make me an instrument of thy peaceFri May 17 1991 10:0414
Re .4:

That's right, I recall you said something about not even having the "factory"
patches... No, they're not in the archives I posted- I extracted those
directly from the FF332 disk archive on the net. Tellya what, though- I'll
upload a dump file from home over the weekend which has the factory patches
in it.

You'll find that a lot of the patches in the dumps included with the patch
editor *are* the factory patches, i.e. not all patches have been modified.
It is sometimes nice, though, to have all the originals right where they're
"supposed" to be.

2639.6In proper place now...MIDI::DANDan Gosselin, HyperHelp developmentFri May 17 1991 11:144
I've put the patches in MIDI::A$:[MIDILIB.PATCHES.K1]*.*
and the editor in MIDI::A$:[MIDILIB.TOOLS.AMIGA.K1_EDITOR]*.*

2639.7K1-II Factory patches now availableTLE::ALIVE::ASHFORTHLord, make me an instrument of thy peaceTue May 21 1991 10:327
I had trouble accessing MIDI:: over the weekend, but I did upload the dumpfile
containing the K1-II's factory settings, and this morning I successfully
transferred them to MIDILIB. They should, of course, be moved to the same
directory as the other patches I uploaded. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
	Bob
2639.8Sorry about that...MIDI::DANDan Gosselin, HyperHelp developmentTue May 21 1991 10:414
Our boot node has been giving us lots of problems lately - hopefully all of
our problems will be fixed after today.

2639.9Some progressROYALT::ORSHAWAssociate FTSG membership pending.....Thu Jun 06 1991 12:3422
    Ok, I've got the k1 patches from midilib. There are 2 flavors:
    	~2000 bytes
    	    or
    	~8000 bytes

    The 2000 byte files are "single" mode patches. They weren't quite in
    the format I needed for my atari K1 librarian but I was able to convert
    them (so they will now work properly with my program as well as
    "blkdump" and "bump").

    The 8000 byte files are still a mystery. The first 2000 or so bytes are
    a "single" mode dump. The last few bytes are from a "multi" dump. I
    can't figure out why they would be in the same file since the K1 won't
    dump them together (will it??). Does the original owner have any idea
    what is actually in that file? I'm going to look thru it in more detail
    today.

    In any case, I found some very cool patches that I didn't yet have.
    Its worth the download time (for me anyway).
