| With the exception of more addressable patch locations (MIDI, are you
listening?), the 24-voice, 6Mb architecture make it sound awfully like
a 1000 with the PXA upgrade.

| So does anyone know what this machine's got that the Proteus doesn't
have? The Proteus is cheaper and has more voices. Why buy this one
instead?

| Exactly the question I posed Rick Cohen (of Kurzweil/Young-Chang). His
answer was "the Kurzweil sounds!" True but not sufficient at that
price, methinks.

In talking with tech. specialist at YC, the 1000PX + the PXA sound block
and the V5 OS is the same as the rack mount module. And in fact, in reading
the V5 addendum that I got with my new chip set, indeed it talks about the
keyboard products as well. I think that makes my discounted 1000PX with
the upgrade a real bargain...
