| I'm not an owner but would like to be. What is a good price for a
used Porta2 and what should I look for when buying a used one?

I wouldn't know what they're worth these days. They went (go?) for
about $700 new.
I'd look for the usual things... worn heads, scratchy sliders, hissy
headphone amps (apparently some portatwos have hissy headphone amps).
Things like that would generally bring down the price in my estimation.
Try recording a tone on it at some arbitrary level (say 0dB) and
play it back - check for warble (wow/flutter) and see if the playback
comes back at or near the same level as it was recorded at. Make
sure all the mixer channels work.
Although there aren't a lot of things that can go wrong with them,
I have other friends whose portatwos have had problems (slipped/broken
belts, cold solder joints). But those machines were generally used
quite heavily.

| I'm a porta 2 owner. I haven't had a lot of time using the thing. So
I'm definately a beginner at it.
