2483.0. "It's a bug, not a feature!" by QUINCE::MADDEN (Organizationally Challenged) Sat Nov 03 1990 17:05

I recently purchased a Casio CT-670, and it appears to have bugs in its
system exclusive event handling. I'd like to claim that this is a
defect in workmanship and have Casio fix it under warranty.

Has anybody here dealt with a situation like this before? How did you
resolve it? Was the manufacturer or vendor accommodating?

Firstly, have you contacted the dealer and asked? Maybe you got a
machine that isn't operating to design specs...

Second, are you sure cockpit error isn't the source of the "bug"?

I'd imagine the best you could hope for would be either a refund (best
case) or a free OS update if/when one becomes available.

Though I discovered the bug recently, I bought the unit mail order two
months ago; I'm not sure I can ask for a refund at this point.
Warranty service or waiting (hoping?) for an upgrade look like my only
    options right now.

[I'm sure that the problem is not cockpit error. Specifically, the
problem is that when a channel is set within the range of patches
50-57, a particular sysex won't work. It's supposed to work for all of
    them.]

...then I'd contact Casio directly and ask. They may have a new
rev already out or in the wings.

I contacted the manufacturer of my drum machine about a 100%
reproducible bug. Their only reaction was "Wow man, bizarre..."
