| ouch. I'd hope so. I can do it on the Casio CZ-1 even...
But then, casio is light years ahead of Yama....ha ha ha.

Yes there are a few of us who have TG55's.
I am assuming that from the quation you have an SY55 which I don;t
think will split the keyboard from a midi point of view, although it
will allow you to create split patches. Thus if both bass and piano are
being run on the same midi-channel and you send a sustain message for
that channel then both will sustain. The only way to beat this would be
to be able to split the keyboard in to two channels and use a "MULTI"
set up. I don't think the SY will do this.

| It make no sense to me why modules and keyboards are made without
this sustain feature. This feature is a must for keyboard players
that play bass with the left hand and another sound with the right
hand I guess there just isn't enough demand for it.
I hope I'm correct in assuming that with the TG55 you can assign
a voice (bass) to one midi channel and another voice (piano) to a
different midi channel. Then use two keyboards one assigned to
the bass midi channel and the other assigned to the piano channel.
Isn't this one way to get around the split sustain problem?
Thanks so far.

Sustain isn't the only thing on many keyboards that is shared by both
sides of the split. Many units also have to share things like pitch
bend, mod wheel, aftertouch, etc. since these are all "global" controls
as opposed to "key" controls like velocity or poly-aftertouch.

Yes that would fix the problem... And if you have a decent controller
eg KX88 etc it will probably do that for you...
