2426.2 | FYI - relocation convention | DREGS::BLICKSTEIN | This is your brain on Unix | Tue Aug 28 1990 10:36 | 11 |
| John,
For future reference...
There's a convention such that whenever a notesfile is moved, a
pointer to the new location is left in the old location. When you
OPEN MUSIC in the old location, you'll find a one note conference
that just tells you everything.

2426.3 | Sometimes it's a cousin twice removed | VFOVAX::BELL | I'm telepathetic. | Tue Aug 28 1990 11:55 | 9 |
| That doesn't work when the conference has been moved twice since you
last visited it. I had quite a time finding EASYNET_CONFERENCES after
a jog to school (I think it's on TURRIS now). Or COMMUSIC after it
left QUILL a while ago.
If you can't find a conference, check in EASYNET_CONFERENCES as they
will have the updates. So keep up with where it's at!

Well, even pointers to relocated conferences have to have some sort of
statute of limitations. I think a 6 months is reasonable.

2426.7 | OK - here's the story | DREGS::BLICKSTEIN | This is your brain on Unix | Thu Aug 30 1990 10:54 | 13 |
| While I didn't say where it was, I told you how to find out.
It's on TIMBRE:: now, but you really should read the forwarding
note as you may encounter problems referencing it. TIMBRE is a new
node and may not be in your database - the forwarding note warns
about that problem and tells you how to deal with it if you encounter
it.
I probably should've mentioned it directly but the idea was to
encourage you to read the forwarding note without me having to
type in why.
