2374.0. "Studiomaster MA 36 MIDI Analyzer" by AQUA::GRUNDMANN (Bill DTN 297-7531) Sat Jun 23 1990 21:07

This continues the discussion in 112. It is separate because it is not
the Roland product of note 112.

Studiomaster responded quickly with info about the MIDI analyzer (MA36)
and other products. The technical info about the MA36 is copied below -
it really is rather lacking - for some reason the description is not
nearly as good or well presented as the other stuff I got - just a
Xerox of the following, and a single page copy of a review from
something called "Studio Test" (is this a REAL magazine?)

I didn't feel up to typing in the review - obviously, it was all good
stuff. They mentioned Roland's A110 - to contrast MA36. Basically it
won't show individual notes, but it does show the other classes of MIDI
    messages that the A110 doesn't.

It runs on a 9v battery, has a jack for a wallbug. There's a MIDI THRU,
so you can insert it into a circuit, or at the end of a run. Claims
MIDI IN goes to MIDI THRU even when it's switched off.

The "error sensing" is not explained.

MA36 MIDI ANALYSER

How have you managed without this?

Once you've used an MA36, you'll wonder how you ever got by without
it! By simply connecting it to the end of a MIDI cable, or in-line in
a MIDI system, MA36 will indicate the MIDI channel being used, and
exactly what information is being transmitted or received. MA36 even
senses errors! No more guessing or trial-and-error. If you use MIDI,
you can't afford to be without an MA36. Visit your nearest
Studiomaster dealer today!

An attempt at copying the picture of the unit. It seems to be about
3"x6" The () is meant to represent LEDs.
