He had a lousy drumbox. I would have thought it was one of those
Yamma-Organ things.

????
Whalers in Edmonton? You mean the Whalers in Hartford, or the
Oilers in Edmonton? ;^) Or is this a junior team? :^)
Ralph (hockey fan)
not that it matters! ;^)

| Hmmm closest minor league team to Hartford that I know of is the New
Haven Nighthawks (actually, I'm a Springfield Indians fan from a while
back)
...but seriously
Tom's note made me cringe. While theatre organ is an art form that the
majority of the population won't miss when (not if) it dies, it is
still a shame to see it so unceremoniously replaced.

| It lives on, but in a different form - I have a D-50/550 RAM card full
of theatre organ patches.
I suppose it's not real though if it doesn't start as vibrating air
rather than vibrating electrons.

| Yes, an "art form" that is not doing too well ... I belong to a
group attempting to keep it alive, the ATOS (Americal Theatre
Organ Society). A real (i.e. pipe) theatre organ creates a sound I
still wouldn't mind having on my electronic gear, along with all
the other sounds I already use ...

According to the latest issue of the Roland User's Guide (V7-4), the
official organist for the Philadelphia Phillies now is jamming with a
Roland E-20, you know, the one with the "intelligent arranger".
This guy is happening:
"The first one (style card), with the stuff like Elvis did, is one of
my favorites. The second in the set has the Mexican rock, that gets
used a lot."
"We all get tired of the same old thing, so every year I like to go
back in with a new trick,a new angle or musical delight to stiumulate
the crowds."

A real tragedy will occur when Chicago Stadium closes down in a couple
of years where perhaps the grandest, most certainly loudest pipe
organ in perhaps the world lives. A true wonder from the 20's that
is built right into the stadium. No electronic amplification required
ever... Very successful at hockey games!

| Bob,
Is that the MONOLITH looking organ...seems to be gold leafed, about
4 keyboards?
I forget the game I was watching when they flashed to the organist.
It was like something out of Mr. Phibes (or whatever that was called).
Steve
BTW - is it just me, or does everyone realize that the Bruins are
going to win the Stanley Cup? ;-)
Sorry...back to music..... ;-)
