I was in a store at noon today and noticed two Kurzweil products I don't recall hearing about... K1200 (looks like a souped up K1000) and 1200 Mk III (I may have that name wrong... - this was a rack mount) Does anyone know about these things? Is there already a note somewhere on them? My guess is that no-one will want to risk a Kurzweil purchase and these'll go nowhere. Dan

Wurlitzers in Framingham has one. I got a chance to play with it briefly. I really liked the keyboard feel which was weighted and not as heavy as the Roland 250/300S models. Its an 88 key unit. I was mostly interested in the piano sounds , which were great, and organ sounds, of which there were few and not particularly noteworthy. The front panel appeared identical to the K1000 series so its unlikely there's been any change in the programming interface. Keyboard mag referred to it briefly in their NAMM summary. It's got a list price of $3195. There are also two, maybe three 1200 series modules that run around $1700. I didn't get any prices from Wurlitzer. KEYBOARD also mentioned that the Kurzweil Music division is for sale. Ron |
