Bill,
When you say you couldn't unARC them, do you mean that you got
CRC errors on the attempt? If so, it points out a problem with
your download procedure. Be sure that you download the files to
your PC in binary format. If you're using KERMIT, issue the SET
FILE TYPE BINARY command before starting the download. Remember
that you have to issue that command to both KERMITs. Seems to me
that this problem has been covered in another note...Mr.

2280.2 | Files were broken on VAX | VMSDEV::NORCOTT | Wakarimasu ka? | Wed Mar 07 1990 08:43 | 11 |
| I copied the files from CYO780 to my directory on VMS. I then ran
both ARC and VMSSWEP on them (while they were still on my VAX
workstation). The files were corrupted before I KERMIT'ed them to
my PC.
Is there a backup copy of these files anywhere?
They are MBDOC.ARC, MBSRC.ARC, MBEXE.ARC

I've got these, but I'm not sure what versions they are. I
pulled them down off the IEMUG node in San Diego early last year,
I think. They de-ARCced OK, but I never tried to use the program
(says it requires a color monitor and my sequencer lives on a
Compaq portable with monochrome screen). I'll try to locate this
stuff and upload it to MIDIlib tonight.
I'll also leave copies in SWAV1"":: for a few days so that the
MIDIlibrarian is under no pressure...
Bill, sorry for the summary dismissal of your problem. I see
this all the time with novice users and the problem is rarely due
to a corrupt file.

Thanks for reposting the files!
I'm a novice to MIDI, but not to PC's, MS-DOS, KERMIT, etc.
