| I own an old one of their products, so my wild a** guesses are:
it has taps in the regen loop
it's probably non-midi
it's probably 8-bits companded

The 3.6 second delay is non-MIDI, non-programmable and only has
8 KHz bandwidth.

2101.4 | I liked it, 'till I went MIDI | CSC32::G_HOUSE | No way out, No way out... | Mon Aug 28 1989 19:30 | 13 |
| Mine isn't a RDS 3.6, but a RDS 3600 (the next one up the line).
The RDS 3.6 is a rack mount unit, definately mono and definately not
Midi controllable. If it's anything like the 3600, it's very reliable
and quiet. The 3600 has a LED display showing the delay time, but the
3.6 does not. I don't remember what the bandwidth is for the 3.6, but
the 3600 is switch selectable, allowing you to cut the max delay time
in favor of increased bandwidth (ie. @7.2sec max delay, you get 4k
bandwidth range, 3.6sec @8k, or 1.6 @16k).
BTW, I'm still selling the 3600, but it's currently spoken for.

| Hmmm, interesting....
I plan to use my effects almost exclusively for guitar, I'm wondering
if 8KHz bandwidth is enough. As far as it being NOT MIDI, I could
always retrofit it with one of those Electronic Musician projects
that have showed up recently.
I make alot of my own stuff, but a DDL may be just a bit much to
tackle. I'm in no hurry, I might just sit on the $400, and look
around somemore and see what pops up.
Thanks,
Denis.

Denis,
The way I understand it, the bandwidth narrows to 8kHz
at FULL delay. Another thing to consider is most 12"
speakers have poor response above 6 or 7khz anyway. Your
rig, or just about anyone's guitar rig is bandwidth limited
starting with the pickups. IMHO, the 3.6 would sound great
with your guitar, even though it's not stereo, or MIDI.

2101.7 | I think they're a good buy | CSC32::G_HOUSE | No way out, No way out... | Tue Aug 29 1989 12:18 | 7 |
| I agree with Neil, I think that the bandwidth is adequate for guitar.
Did you say $400??? If someone wants to charge you $400 for that thing
you are being cheated royally! I wouldn't pay over about $125 for one
in premium condition.

2101.8 | on the subject of bandwidth | CSC32::MOLLER | Nightmare on Sesame Street | Tue Aug 29 1989 12:24 | 8 |
| As far as bandwidth is concerned, I recently had an Alesis MicroVerb
(the earlier model), and it rolled off all my high end when I used
distortion (I didn't like the sound at all!!). You may want to
test what ever you plan to buy in a configuration that you plan
to use it in. The MicroVerb sounded fine otherwise, but, since I
use distortion sometimes, I didn't like the end result.

| I thought I might have read the sticker wrong, so I gave the store
a call. It's on consingment, the owner wanting $399. The store thought
it was a little high. I'm going to look around for an ART or Multiverb,
or whatever I come across.
Thanks All,
Denis.

2101.12 | Don't forget the Quadraverb | DYO780::SCHAFER | Brad - boycott hell. | Tue Aug 29 1989 15:45 | 5 |
| Might want to check out the Alesis Quadraverb while you're looking. Up
to 4FX at once, up to 1.5 sec delay, and can be had for $399. Less
pricey than the Multiverb.

A *little* high?? It's a LOT high! Matter of fact, if that guy or
that store thinks he'll get anywhere close to that *they* must be high.
It didn't cost that much NEW! It didn't even list for that much...
Second on the Quadraverb or Multiverb. MidiverbIIs are going for
really good prices these days too. I don't know how much delay you can
get from them though. All these units can be had for around $400 or
less.
