Paul, how about another MAC owner with something like MTP that can
write MIDI files, connect the two and do a multi-track record. I
can't help you with that as I'm up in Canada, but if I was down
your way.....

| The starting constraint is a floppy with either a Performer file on it
or an EMAX sequence on it. I have neither Performer nor an EMAX...
Performer version 3.1 is shipping now, by the way. List $495. (yikes)

2084.4 | MIDI file format description? | SMURF::NEWHOUSE | | Wed Aug 23 1989 09:46 | 6 |
| Does anyone know what the midi file format is or where I can find this
information? I looked in the directory of this file and didn't see any
obvious pointers.
Thanks,
Tim

Have a look to Note 1538.
This may give you some idea.

| Do I have any volunteers who
1) Already have a sufficiently recent version of Performer that
it knows how to write MIDI files, and
2) Are willing to convert a file for me?
Being in New England helps (I am at ZKO) so this doesn't have to be
done by mail.

2084.7 | Need a file for testing | KOBAL::DICKSON | | Thu Sep 14 1989 13:53 | 12 |
| Does anybody have a MIDI file or two that they could let me have to test out
a program I am writing? The program is supposed to be able to read and write
MIDI files (and do something interesting in between).
The program runs on VMS, so I need to get the file there. I can handle simple
data files or Macintosh "MacBinary" format.
In case anybody is interested, the program is a "time base corrector" that aids
you in turning freely entered improvisations (disregarding tempo) into a format
where time is scaled and a tempo map created such that
1) The sequence plays back the same as before, but
2) The beats fall on beats, etc
