2069.0. "Some of us will be getting free CD's from Roland" by DREGS::BLICKSTEIN (Conliberative) Fri Aug 04 1989 10:41

    I found a surprise in my mailbox last night.

    Smiley faces in advance:  ;-)  ;-)  ;-)

    That slimey no good Roland company that produces unreliable, mediocre,
    overpriced products with shitty documentation, poor service and
    screws MO places sent me a free CD yesterday.

    My guess is that all S-550 owners who sent in their registration cards
    will get a free copy of "Roland: A Sound Approach" in the mail soon.
    I wouldn't be surprised if it went to owners of other high end pro
    Roland equipment (D-550. A-80, etc.)

    The CD is basically a collection of material done with mostly
    Roland equpment. It comes with a 24-page booklet describing in
    moderate detail the recording process and the equipment and
    sounds that were used (mostly patches and samples that are available from
    Roland library).

    I found it very interesting to read about how the tune was done
    and then listen to it.

    The CD has been out some time now (Chad Leigh loaned it to me about
    4 months ago).

	So, what do you think of it, for those of us with Porta-Tones?

2069.2I liked it.BAGELS::SREBNICKBad pblm now? Wait 'til we solve it!Wed Aug 09 1989 10:427
    I got the CD as well, but I had to pay for it. It was well worth
    the money. I was quite pleased with the songs (great background
    music for when you're working on the home computer) and the technology
    is quite impressive.

    It was even worth the $11.95 (plus shipping, handling, taxes, freight,
    carrying fee, tips for the delivery people, etc.) that I was charged.
2069.3Where is this CD???UTROP1::VDBOSTue Aug 22 1989 08:2010
    High,

    Please update me on the CD?? How is it called, number etc...

    Perhaps it is available in Europe too?

    Thanks....
