| It's probably the best MIDI controller on the market. 8 MIDI channels
simultaneously, good piano-type keyboard feel. However, IMO it's
FAR too much money, and I'm very happy with a Yamaha KX88.

1999.2 | MIDIBOARD looks nice, waiting for KORG T1 | RTL::RTL::TOTTON | | Sun May 21 1989 14:39 | 12 |

Thanks. I'm in a holding pattern until I learn more about the T1.
What I hear is it is an M1, with an expanded 8Mb (4MW of 16-bit) sample
memory, a 60,000 note sequencer, a disk-drive, 512K words of RAM for
new PCMs (possible MIDI sample dump standard), M1 compatible PCM card
slot, multiple MIDI outs, 8x40 lines LCD, and an 88-note weighted,
velocity/aftertouch sensitive keyboard.
What I haven't heard is an expected price. Availability target was
June (probably for the NAMM show).

| Not to detract from the T1 discussion, but ...
Does anyone know what a Kurzweil MIDIboard is going for nowadays? I saw
a list on one yesterday of $2295, which seemed somewhat high to me.
Dave Orin said something about getting one for $1500 in topic 2057, but
I'm not sure I'd be able to get one (he had lots of pull).
Anyone own one of these things? Comments?

1999.4 | Try the DECMS stores like Carusos and East Coast Sound | NORGE::CHAD | Ich glaube Ich tte Ich htte | Fri Sep 29 1989 13:05 | 8 |
| I saw an ad from a california store in a magazine that had them for
about $1400. The other prices they had on stuff were terrible. Point is,
they are being offered cheap. If you try ou different places like Carusos,
you will probably get a good deal.
Chad
does East Coast Sound do Kurzweil?

1999.6 | Guitar Center's initial offer | SWAV1::STEWART | There is no dark side of the moon... | Fri Sep 29 1989 15:57 | 14 |

I just checked with George (Ishikara) at the Guitar Center in
Santa Ana (714-547-6655). They don't stock the Midiboard but
they can order it for you. The initial price I got for just
asking was $2k, which indicates to me that you could get it down
quite a bit since they don't have any carrying costs associated
with keeping it in inventory. Call him and see what you can do.
(If you get some quantity going you'll obviously have more
leverage. How many people want one of these and have the money
to do something right away?)

1999.7 | Midi + board = happy status | CSC32::M_VEGA | | Fri Sep 29 1989 18:04 | 14 |

I've recently (last month) been in the market for the Midiboard
and mail order prices ranged from 1895 to 2195 with the lower
prices obtained with much haggling. 8 months ago I actually got
a price of 1495 without effort. If you can find a v2.2 demo still
on the shelf you may get a killer deal like I did... 1395 and no
tax! 8^), upgrade to v3.0 is 100+$ but Kurzweil says they are
providing the upgrade to distributors with 2.2 stock free$, still
working this issue with my distributor 8*(.

| Yeah, I know, I know ... your "distributor" is also mine, and I bummed
greatly when he told me that you bought his last one in stock. 8-(
Hope you enjoy it.
