1940.0. "Ensoniq EPSM Rackmount Sampler" by TOCATA::PICKETT (David - Beware of the dogma.) Thu Mar 16 1989 08:12

Just noticing in the April EM, Ensoniq introduced a rackmount EPSm at
the NAMM show. It's rare folks, but score another point for
intelligence and common sense in the never ending battle against
    Marketing.

Yeah, but Marketing got their licks in too...

Didn't you notice the price? $2700 ! When a standard EPS is only
    $1900 ?

I imagine the EPSm has extra memory onboard.

The EPSM not only contains the extra memory, but also individual outs.

And list price is $3295, not $2700. Sounds steep to me.

Sounds particularly steep when you could get 2 or 3 2-meg FZ samplers
for that. 24 outs, 6 meg, 24 note poly!

	The EPS-m features:

4 meg on board, SCSI port and 10 outputs, upgradeable software,
	open architecture.

Essentially it's an EPS with no keyboard, and all of the options.

I haven't seen one for list price. They all seem to be on the market
	for about 2700 bucks.

/pjh, who got to play with one and closely inspect it.
