       Has anyone heard of a midi synth called a Bit One?. I heard one
    the other day at Manny's (sounded pretty good) but didn't get a
    chance to put it through my torture test as I was triple parked
    outside and had to run!.

	Bit 1 is a synth marketed (in the U.K. anyway) by a company called Chase. I think it is a derivative of one of the Italian synths. It is analogoue based, six voices. Rack Mount is all I have seen. Was supposed to give quite a respectable sound. Paul.

I believe it is bi-timbral and it has a velocity sensitive keyboard (very light feel to it, though). My catalog of synths says that it is a six-voice, two-oscillator-per-voice. It has a single envelope, two LFO's, and a big sound (whatever that means). The book says that it has a VERY limited MIDI implementation (didn't explain further) and that it was made by Crumar (or the company that Crumar became). It never seems to have taken off, but then again, with a name like that, who could take it seriously? Dan

	The same company also marketed the Bit 99 synth, together with a range of keyboard controllers. Come to think of it I haven't heard of Chase recently - have they gone bust or something ?? Incidentally, the only time I heard one of these synths was when the shop assistant (who was about 12 years old - child labour is alive and well in the U.K. :-) ) was demoing one - he played the opening riff from Van Halen's 'Jump' about 20 times before I walked out.
