If youre not a MAC user you may want to hit next unseen else{ I've just uploaded a PD stack to MET730 called Benson_MIDI_utility_stack.stuffit. It's basically a stack that lets you do sysex bulk dumps from various synths to the MAC, plus a whole lot of other things that I haven't investigated yet. Its worth downloading it just to see a good stack! Mr. Bates said that he would have it up soon so if you have a MAC its definitely worth a look. Be prepared to read a hefty piece of documentation included with it! Ken

Who is Mr. Bates? What will it be "up to"? How do I get a look? Where do I get the documentation? I'm just full of questions everyone is afraid to ask. 8^)) dave
1910.2 | Stacks are for MACs | TROA01::HITCHMOUGH | Wed Mar 15 1989 17:22 | 11
Dave, I'm not sure if there is anything in this notes file on MET730 but you may want to check the Macintosh notes and do a dir/ title=MET730 (assuming you are a MAC user). If not, then it probably wont be much use to you 'cos a stack is basically a macintosh program that wont run on a PC etc. MET730 is indeed a VAX node, (no idea where) and Mr. Bates is kind enough to look after the oodles of PD software that he keeps on it. Hope this helps a little. Ken

In this context, "stack" refers to a HyperCard stack, which is roughly speaking a combined program and data file that runs in HyperCard on a Mac. There is a large, up-to-date, well-organized archive of Mac software on the ENET. Its top-level directory is MET730::MACROOT:. For music-related software, look at MET730::MUSIC:, for HyperCard stacks, look at MET730::STACKS:, etc. Joe Bates does a great job maintaining the archive. -Mark |
