Does anyone know of a decent tape duplication service?? What I'd like is someone who can turn out quantities of *decent* quality* cassettes. It would be nice if these cassettes were of the exact time as the material (about 15 minutes), as opposed to just getting 46- or 60- minute cassettes with mostly blank tape. When I've gone to do this in the past, using exact-time tapes, the tape quality was horrible, and the results really weren't satisfactory at all. What I prefer to get is Maxell or some other quality tape, but with the length matched to the material. This shouldn't be a problem with larger services that use bulk loaders; it's the outfits that use those cheezy white-plastic cheep-tapes that I want to avoid. Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give me. Mike Lynch

I was pretty happy with the service I got at The Tape Complex on Mass Avenue in Boston (437-9449). They only do real-time recording using banks of high-quality decks. The tape I did (30-minute) was done on high-bias tape and cost about $2.30 per tape (75 tapes). The quality of duplication was better than my home deck can do. Part of that is because my home deck does lousy copying, but does good masters. They'll ship it to you if you pay 'em for UPS. Cash only, but they guarantee their work. Steve |
