| Peter:
You may want to check to see if your OVERFLOW setting in the
SYSTEM Menus is set correctly. I think it has to be set to OFF,
but there's a 50% probability that I'm wrong on that 8-).
Take a look at the 1396 note which is dedicated to the D110,
for more information. I believe that Dave Orin had a similar problem
to yours.

Bill is right. I had the same problem when playing back Maple Leaf Rag. It
was dropping notes on the fast passages. Once I turned the OVERFLOW param
off there were no more problems.

1779.3 | To overflow or not thats the ..... | UTROP1::VDBOS | | Wed Dec 14 1988 03:36 | 13 |
| Guys,
My problem is solved!! Roland installed new firmware, version 1.05,
and it works perfect now. I also have installed Steinberg version
2.1 which is an improvement as well.
But I am still confused about the OVERFLOW bit in the SYSTEMS menu.
Where is it????
Regards,
Pete

1779.4 | no overflow - sorry | SUBSYS::ORIN | AMIGA te amo | Wed Dec 14 1988 17:09 | 9 |
| Pete,
I just called Wurly's and they said that there is no overflow bit on the
D10. Sorry for the misleading advice. Little subtle differences between
the D10 & D110 keep turning up. So, no more fruitless searching and
enjoy the new software.

Peter,
Experienced simular problems myself. Have you tried switching the
clock setting to MIDI mode (so the sequencer controls it)? Reason:
D-10 always transmits the internal clock (even when it doesn't play!).
By the way: my set-up is: d-10, mega st, C-Lab notator sequencer
(1000% better then the pro-24 I've owned before, totally bugfree,
even with Roland's not-always-standard MIDI approach...

re -1
I am aware of at least 2 of us (myself and Zayed Hanna) who are
about to take the plunge re- Creator Verses Pro-24. We would both
be very interested in your comments as to why you think Creator
is so much better.
Apart from the dongle having velcro on that is.

1779.7 | A rumor from a dealer... | MARVIN::SCOTT | BArry A. Scott | Thu Jan 12 1989 10:38 | 14 |
| I was talking to a dealer about MIDI software and he got
talking about PRO-24 and the problems that it has.
Usually he swaps the PRO-24 for Creator after the
customer finds out that PRO-24 don't work as advertised.
Its bug level is very high. Although V3 Pro-24 has fixed
the bugs in the features that where ship in V1 (humm).
As for V3 feature...
Apparently things are so bad with Pro-24 that the makers
have a deal with Atari to give away free the Pro-12 (cut
down Pro-24) with each ST-1040 sold. Just to get people
interested in the product.

1779.8 | Pro-Labse | WARDER::KENT | | Fri Jan 13 1989 04:02 | 14 |

I have C-lab creator at home at the moment. The price I was quoted
was 250 pounds which does not concur with what "Burke" (sorry forgot
the christian name) siad elsewhere although I think there may be
a new version out. Having siad that a 200 pound change in price
seems a bit steep for a software upgrade.
I also had pro-24 for a week and have to say of the 2 I prefer pro-24
so far. I have used it fairly extensively and have so-far not uncovered
any bugs. Having said all that, I am now so confused I will probably
stick with the good old Qx5.

NOtes on pricing. It seems that two different beasts are being discussed.
Creator is a sequencing package. Lists in US for $300 + (349?)
NOtator is a scoring/seq. package built on top of Creator (Creator with
geater functionality) and lists in us for about $600 (I've been quoted $475 for
reference).
Confusion between the two easily accounts for a "200 pound" difference.
