1774.1 | I don't watch Entertainment Tonight, really... | HPSRAD::NORCROSS | | Fri Nov 18 1988 14:45 | 16 |
| I bought the Tesh tape a few months ago when it came out. I liked it.
It's called 'Tour de France' or something like that. It's named after
the Bike race for which it was written as 'TV coverage'
accompaniment music. Good sports accompaniment music using lots of
high tech stuff.
I haven't listened to the soundpage, as I don't have a record player,
but I believe the article stated that the soundpage was a piece of
the original accompaniment tracks - a stripped down version (of
what he later produced on the album), which was recorded on the
road (not at his home studio) with melodies supressed. (I could
easily be wrong).

| Well, I don't watch ET, either. My WIFE watches it and I rub her
feet. Yeah, that's the ticket ...

| I had the same reaction.
I guess for TV background music it's just fine, but it didn't hold my
interest at all. The hype given in the interview hardly seemed
"deserved" in my opinion.
I've heard stuff on Commusic tapes I liked more.

When I listened to it, I thought of the TV and the bike race and then I thought
it was quite good or interesting. Now, for sitting back and listening to
tunes it wasn't so interesting. The M1 demo side was also interesting. Of
course I think all demos are good because I can't do it myself (the composition,
my equipment could do it if instructed how :-).

| So, now I told my wife, 'well, John Tesh put out a really neat album
and the cut is from the album except he left out the melody or it
was a live version or something'. So, she fires back with, 'well,
why didn't he send them his best stuff, knowing they were going
to publish it?'. So, I said, 'well, um, ah, uh ...'

| This is a bit off the record (ahem), and may sound a bit arrogant, but
I'm really having a hard time getting excited lately about much new
talent that's coming out. All this hype about "hot new players" does
nothing but make me yawn.
