1553.0. "Roland MKS50, Alpha Juno patches" by CLULES::SPEED (If it doesn't rack, it doesn't roll) Thu Jul 21 1988 12:23

    I am looking for decent alternate patches for my Roland MKS-50 module.
    This module is equivalent to the Roland Alpha Juno-1 and Alpha Juno-2
    sythesizers.

    Anyone bought patches from a third party? Anyone have any good
    ones they would like to post?

    		Thanks,
    		Derek

    Hi Derek,
    	I too would like alternate sounds for the MKS50. Unfortunately,
    I have none to offer! (except a couple that I input from soundsheets
    in RUG magazine. One was called SuperJupiter Brass -- fell just
    a little short of the real thing).
    	So anyway, are there many third party sounds offered for this
    module? I haven't been keeping up with it. I've found the original
    (128) factory patches to be more than useful in my applications,
    with some tweeking.

    	So, the bottom line is, I can't contribute to your request for
    more sounds, but I thought you might like to hear from another MKS50
    owner. If you ever want to go in on some third party sounds together,
    I'm game.

    	Ron

    Here's my favorite creation (I like blasty sounds):

    Name: Grumpy
    DCO RNG = 8'   DCO LFO = 00    DCO ENV = 00    DCO ENV = |\-.
    DCO AFTR = 00  DCO BEND = 02   PULSE = 03      SAWTOOTH = 01
    SUB = 01       SUB LEVL = 03   NOIS LVL = 00   PW/PWM = 96
    PWM RATE = 00  HPF FREQ = 00   VCF FREQ = 127  VCF RESO = 39
    VCF ENV = 127  VCF ENV = |\-.  VCF LFO = 127   VCF KYBD = 08
    VCF AFTR = 00  VCA LEVL = 114  VCA ENV = D|\-. VCA AFTR = 00
    CHORUS = ON    CRS RATE = 72   LFO RATE = 127  LFO DELY = 00
    ENV T1 = 00    ENV L1 = 127    ENV T2 = 00     ENV L2 = 127
    ENV T3 = 00    ENV L3 =127     ENV T4 = 50     ENV KYBD = 00

    I find the machine easy to program for sustained sounds like this,
    (which is what I use it for) so I haven't really looked for any third
    party patches. I'm certainly never going to get digital natives to come
    dancing out of it, but hey...
