| We let fireworks off on November 5th. It used to be celebrate the
burning of the Pope (wishful thinking, of course, since no brit
ever succeeded), then it became the burning of Guy Fawkes (who damn
near succeeded blowing up the Houses of Parliament -- come back
all is forgiven, etc) and now it's an effigy of Margaret Thatcher
(at least, it is in MY backgarden). Course, we will be celebrating
the end of Henley Regatta here in the Reading environs this weekend.
This involves lots of fireworks as we say goodbye to all the
Porsche-driving, Pimms-drinking, loud-mouthed, Oxbridge-accented,
car-telephoned jerks for another twelve months.
Richard.
