Sometime over the last year Electronic Music Magazine ran a build it yourself aural exciter circuit article. Apparantly, it was incredibly similar to Aphex Aural Exciter I, and required warning in the next article about copyright infringement. Can anyone out there send me a xerox of the article, I want to build it. I will pay reasonable xerox and mail fees. Or, If someone knows of a better circuit to build that I can stick between my 4 and 2 tracks during mixdown to make the mixdown more interesting. (Im talking cheap) Anyone try the new Alesis exciter box (sounds obscene doesnt it?) pete

Dont know if this is what you are looking for but here is what I have. The article is from September 87 (EM). The article is entitled "the $10 Harmonic Sweetener". The way I understand it, it takes the input signal, and splits it into two. The one side passes through a high pass filter removing all fundamental freqs. This is then distorted somewhat, then lightly mixed back into the dry signal. This will add some higher harmonics, hopefully spicing up the sound a tad. Real simple theory, but does it work? If you want the article, let me know, and I will be glad to send it out to you. Good Luck! Vinnie |
