| I saw your disappointment, Dave, that few people were entering any
other reviews of speakers and I just wanted to explain my situation, and why
I've not participated...
Speakers are one of the few parts of my system that I've not spent a lot
of time and energy and research on. Subsequently, I haven't pursued the highest
quality components for them yet. Up to the present, I've winged it with various
flavors of used equipment, none of which I felt were worthy of review.
At present, I'm trying out a new concept of bi-amping in a concert
satelite system. I'm using an old Acoustic bass cabinet with an 18" Pyle
Source driver as the bottom end, with two EV 1823M mid-range wide dispersion
horns and two banks of piezoelectric tweeters (four in each) to cover the high
end. I used them for the first time in a concert setting last Saturday night.
It wasn't that bad sounding, but it needs some fine-tuning and attention. In
particular, I may try to add a passive crossover between the mid and hi (they
are currently running in parallel, recieving the high end of a fixed active Heil
crossover set at 800hz). We also had a problem with ringing at about 120hz,
but we suspected the room to be more at fault than the system.
So, that's my current config. I'd be glad to participate in any
discussion regarding this arrangement, its advantages and pitfalls... I'm new
to the game, though, so I may be limited in what I can add.

I just didn't have all the information at my fingertips. I know
what my speakers are, of course, I bought them for a reason (they
sound great). I just had to remember to bring in the specs (I hate
typing from home). Then the topic died and I forgot....
Well, I'm making a note now....
