    	Does anyone have experience with and opinions on the "music
    educational software" thats around ?  The only one I've heard of
    is from Roland and runs exclusively on IBM PCs and clones.  What
    about STs, Amigas, Macs, etc ?  I'm trying to decide if its worth
    investing in some kind of computer and a CAI package to supplement,
    or maybe replace, my weekly piano lessons.  I guess I'd want it
    to  a) play (sequence) the lesson piece,  b) record my attempt at
    playing it,  c) display what I had actually played, preferably in
    standard music notation.  Would I be better off just buying the
    home computer and a decent sequencer package and hacking around
    with "method" books ?   HELP !

	You may wish to look into instructional videos...recently I bought one on slide guitar that has moved my slide playing light years ahead... dave_dreaming_of_being_asked_to_replace_Lowell_George_someday

	re .1 Thanks Dave, and thanks to everyone else for the TOTALLY UNDERWHELMING response. I guess its been decades since you needed any kind of instruction :-}) Anyway, I think I'm going to buy an Atari 1040ST and Dr T's KCS & Copyist. Then I'll sequence all the little exercises from the lessons for 5 year olds and remarket them as arranged and sequenced by me (copyrighted, of course). This way I can be freed from the ventilationless practice rooms of the Acton Music Shop, so can the 5 year olds, and I'll make lotsa money before I actually learn to play. 	MIX Bookshelf was where I bought my two tapes.... 2608 Ninth Street, Berkeley Ca 94710 (800) 233-9604, also check out Hot Licks Video (the company that made the vids I bought) P.O. Box 337 Pound Ridge, NY. 10576 (914) 763-8013. Hot licks has about 100 video tapes, land numberous other stuff liek cassette based courses etc. good luck! dave
