Hi folks:
It's me 925.0 maker. The DDD-1 is very nice drummer, it's flexible,
powerfull, samples 1.8 seconds with a 12 bit resolution... its quite
impressive. BUT I DIDN'T COME WITH SOME REAL GOOD PATTERNS. This
reply is to hunt drum owners who have paper on basic patterns, fills
and songs. The DDD-1 came along with about 20 8Bit patterns, 20 16Bit
patterns, about 4 shuffle, 3 sambas, AND ONLY ONE BOSSANOVA !!!!!
DDD-1, as other good drum machine, is capable of bit editing. This is,
you can edit every bit of a pattern, step by step. So what I need are
maybe other standard patterns from other drum machines... one bossa, I
don't believe it. I really hate the 8 and 16 bit patterns of my machine.
The same sound with..., a ride, claps, tom-tom-tom, cowbeeeell, are just
the same, the same, the same, the same....
In return I can offer, of course custom made, latin jazz rythms, strong
'merengues' and many variation of 'salsas'. I'm working on new ones too.
The fever is burning me....!!! haaaaayyyyyyy

If I'm not mistaken, the DDD-5 has lots of pre-recorded
patterns. It's very similar to the DDD-1, except I think it
has fewer pads that have their functions/ drums multiplexed
(anybody out there got one?) It's also a few hundred $
cheaper.
I'm really happy with my DDD-1. I don't have any patterns do
give out, because I do real simple custom jobs (e.g., simple
pattern in four, leading to a chorus with a double-time snare
build followed by a cymbal crash, etc.), then erase the
patterns when I'm done (I never save). I listened to the demo
patterns (real flashy and stupid), then flushed them all.

| Those looking for material on what to program into drum machines
are referred to my lengthy series of notes in the DREGS::MUSIC
conference. Note 103, "Drums and Drumming for the Musically Literate
NonDrummer". One of these days I may actually finish it.

| I don't think the DDD-5 has individual outputs for each instrument.
I think it is stereo and allows voice panning, tho.

To all 925 readers:
Please try to keep Vax-Notes clean. If you decide to reply to a note
be creative and instructive. Don't fill it up with single sentences or
just reply topic titles.
Anyway... to 925.2, you pointed out the DDD-5... I already bought the
DDD-1, what I want to know if someone has good drum patterns, not only from
Korg but from any other machine. I'll really appreciate.
925.4 Todd, you're right DDD-X uses six outputs where any sound can
be assigned. I'm not sure about stereo panning, I'll have to check
out.
925.3 I'll check out what's new there.
If anyone is interest in 2 bars and 4 bars real filtered latin patterns,
send me a notification thru E-net LISBOA::FAST, PLAYA::MERLIN. Of course, all
of them are custom made.

| Dear Mr. Saez...
As you'll soon learn, the contributors to COMMUSIC are THE BEST
source of information on MIDI, synths, multi-track recording, etc.
you're likely to find in one place. Someone once stated that the
ideas presented in this conference are at least a year ahead of
the industry.
You'll also find that since most of us live in the Metro-west area
of Boston we often get together for jams, product comparisons and
sometimes just for drinks. I've never met anyone from this file
I didn't like. Whenever a contributor from out of the area (Tucson,
England. etc.) has a reason to be here, you can rest assured that
99% of us will end up in someone's studio for a session.
As such, there is a lot of personal banter bouncing around between
the "meat" in the notes. It's what makes this file fun. To request
that it not be filled up with single sentences or just topic title
replies would make this conference as interesting as your average
owners manual. Any reply you consider to be not worth your time
can easily be avoided by use of KP3.
Welcome to COMMUSIC. Please don't try to change a successful format.
Regards,
Edd

Dear Edd...
> Welcome to COMMUSIC. Please don't try to change a successful format.
I got the message... It's just that I really need a hand on this matter.
Anyway I'm not that old so forget about the Mr.
I'll get used to COMMUSIC as well as other notes conferences. I think
it's because of my English that I may not get across my ideas very well.

I got a DDD-1. I thought one of the advantages of it was the fact
that it didn't have built in patterns that had to be kept. And that
as a programming machine it was really easy and expressive. I am
not sure therefore that I understand your problem. If you are looking
for good drum lick's and ideas I guess you need a real drummer to
help you out. Somebody told me there were one or two of these
who read this file. I actually saw one of them play once.
I always scrub my DDD patterns after use. How can we anotate and
transfer ?
Paul.
