878.0. "Scoring Output Files from Dr. T Sequencers" by OBIWAN::MURRAY () Mon Jul 20 1987 11:47

Heeding the advice of one of the repliers to note 840, I purchased Dr. T's
Music Recording Studio for the Atari ST. It is a very full featured little
brother of the KCS. It produces files that can be read by the KCS. Since I'm
a novice at the MIDI biz, looking at event lists is very confusing and I would
rather see the events as notes on a score sheet. To this end I am going to try
to write some scoring software that will use the song files produced by the
Music Recording Studio. First major hangup is: What the heck is the format of
these files? Has this been published or hacked by anyone?

Any info or pointers to info will be greatly appreciated.

    Or just go out and by "The Copyist" which is provided by Dr T's
    (I think it lists for $195) which does exactly what you want.

    The Copyist is alledged to convert TO AND FROM KCS format so you
    can go both ways.

    Writing a MIDI to score program is a MAJOR effort. I think you'd
    be much better off spending the $200, than spending the 200 hours.
