I heard last fall at the Audio Engineering Society convention that there had been developments in the signal processing field and there would soon be MIDI interface hardware on the new line of effects (Digital Delays, Harmonizers, ect.) being released this summer/fall. That was the last info I recieved and I am wondering if anyone out there has heard any news!?! Thanx, -wjb

Roland now manufactures at least one Digital Delay with MIDI. I think there are two. Other than that I don't know. dave | |||||

I can confirm the existence of a MIDI-controlled Roland delay, as I've seen and played with one. The most obvious way to interface an effects unit to MIDI is to use the program change commands to select different parameter configurations, and that's how the Roland delay works. I would expect everbody else to be working on similar devices. I have a couple of ideas for other MIDI-based accessories; at the extreme, one can imagine a mixing board under MIDI control. Simpler devices like MIDI-controlled panpots or volume controls seem possible. len. |
