I was talking on the Phone with Daddy's Junky Music today and one of the guys down there says there is a new software package coming out from Roland called "MPS" that will be the "definitive, de-facto, standard, everyone will love it, don't but anything else, oh my gawd, I can't believe it..." recording/editing package. Anyone out there know anything about this yet? Along those lines is there anyone who has used the new Roger Powell/Cherry Tree Texture package? I've seen the box and all that but there is never an IBM at any of these stores. By the way this new Roland big deal is also supposed to run on the Apple with some sort of memory induced limitation. I should also mention that it's going to be dependent on having an MPU-401.... /Dennis Savage DTN 282-2614

This sounds enticing, but don't hold your breath. These guys preannounce even more than the computer industry. What I've read about MPS makes it seem like a nice package, and Texture also looks nice, but until I see it run on an Apple I won't believe the Apple version is real. Cherry Lane has been advertising Texture on the Apple for months, but the last time I called them it still wasn't ready. John Sauter |
